An outstanding destination for water-based recreation, the Wakulla Springs hiking trail features one of the world’s largest and most beautiful springs. The unpaved, natural trail provides up to 10 miles of hiking round trip, giving visitors the opportunity to explore an environment rich with a diverse habitats that lie along the river’s floodplain. The hike begins on the boardwalk before continuing along a graded footpath beneath tall loblolly pines. Further along the trail the elevation begins to drop as you head toward the floodplain forest surrounding the Wakulla Springs basin. A bridge that spans over Sally Ward Spring Run provides access to the uplands that exist along the far side of the Wakulla River, where enormous, ancient live oak and cypress tress tower overhead and provide ample shade.
Featured Uses: Hiking, walking/running, nature viewing, and bird watching. Leashed dogs are permitted.
Access: From Tallahassee, follow US 319 / SR 61 south of Capital Circle. Turn left to stay on SR 61 as it heads south into Wakulla County. At SR 267, turn left. The park entrance is on your right
