Join the Rosenstrasse Civil Courage Foundation for Living in Truth: An Afternoon of Short Plays by Václav Havel, presented as part of Havel 90, a celebration of the life, work, and legacy of Czech playwright, dissident, and former president Václav Havel.The program will feature staged cold readings of several of Havel’s short plays, offering audiences an opportunity to encounter his distinctive blend of humor, absurdity, and political insight. Through ordinary people placed in extraordinary or unsettling circumstances, Havel’s work explores questions of truth, conformity, moral compromise, personal responsibility, and resistance.Following the readings, the program will include a conversation connecting Havel’s ideas about “living in truth” and resisting systems of oppression to the Rosenstrasse Civil Courage Foundation’s work on civil courage and the history of the Rosenstrasse protest.
