U•LOT and RealCoolTime Records are proud to present a free musical event, featuring three local ambassadors in electronica.
Nathan Pugh is a native to Tallahassee Florida. His electronic music has been called a “trip-hop fever dream”. With a mixture of found sounds, old record samples, layered with effects and sound processing, his music can be introspective, melancholic and haunting in the most comforting way.
Keith McCall (Rexford Tugwell) has been trying to make electronic music since he got a Casio keyboard at the age of 12. His attempts have ranged widely, from idm to dnb, from downtempo to industrial. These days, McCall is interested in the stripped down, syncopated sounds of Detroit techno and the snappy, synthetic sounds of electro. Hardware synthesizers and drum machines are at the core of his approach, but mostly he just likes to get a loop going and dance with his daughter.
Burlap Productions (Glenn Swan) has lived and worked in Chicago, Los Angeles, NYC and Toronto. His background in sound design and production greatly inform his musical tastes, which he channels through numerous allases. His output ranges from downtempo, dark ambient, post rock, abstract experimental, acidhouse, electroacoustic, breakbeat and others. Swan has given guest lectures on sound, music supervision for film, built audio installations for galleries, and is a heavy contributor to U-LOT Records.
The outdoor backdrop of RealCoolTime Records has become a known commodity for local and traveling musicians, but rarely has the venue hosted so many synths, noiseboxes, drum machines and gadgets. The mighty Octopus wil replace the usual witches and goblins this Halloween, as the party embraces the elements of lo-fi trip-hop, minimal techno, drum & bass, acid house, experimental braindance, deep space atmospherics and more. Hundreds of visuals by the artists will be projected on the walls; a blink-and-you’ll miss photo collage to further engage the senses. There wil be exclusive merchandise, a $1.00 gear raffle, free beverages and a chance to show off your Halloween costume early. All of this under the October night sky, and only 16 steps to the best local record store in Tallahassee.
Show up early to secure parking, browse the selection and watch the activity build in the performance space behind the store.
