ANF OHV Trail

N F R 371
Tallahassee FL 32310
(850) 606-1470

The Apalachicola National Forest has trail systems for both general OHV and motorcycle-use only. Accessible from the Silver Lake OHV Trailhead, the 56-mile ATV trail system runs through the Munson Sandhills to the west of Tallahassee. The ATV trails are marked with yellow fiberglass posts as well as ATV and motorcycle symbols.

Use is for ATVs, motorcycles, and utility vehicles. If accessing from the Springhill Motorcycle Trailhead, the motorcycle trail system provides an in-depth tour of the northeast part of the forest.

This popular area offers over 100 miles of motorized trials with several small, scattered play areas. The trails are mostly smooth, sandy, and flat. There are several staging areas to access the trail system; however, Silver Lake and Springhill have the larger parking lots, paved with plenty of turnaround room for trailers. Keep in mind that the only trailhead with ATV access is Silver Lake. Camping is not permitted but Silver Lake offers a nice day-use area with picnic tables, BBQ grills, and a beach.

Featured Uses: Motorcycling and OHV use only. Visitors can also swim in Silver Lake. Dogs are not permitted.

Trail Access: State Road 13, Sopchoppy, FL 32358

Operational hours: 8:00am to 8:00pm during the summer and 8:00am to 6:00pm during the winter. You can learn more about permits and passes, as well as purchase passes here.
