5 Ways to Support Local Businesses

By Visit Tallahassee

How You Can Help

Here are five simple things you can do to support our incredible local businesses while staying safe and maintaining a safe social distance.

1. EAT OUT

Explore the different tastes of Tallahassee by dining out at one of our many restaurants or bring the flavor home by ordering takeout. Every meal helps support the thousands of workers who help make Tallahassee a culinary destination. Start with a fresh brewed cup of coffee and breakfast at Lucky Goat or brunch with take-away Mimosas at Table 23. Whether you’re looking to experience our craft breweries, indulge in a vegan creation at Sweet Pea Café or  to cool down with an ice cream sundae at Lofty Pursuits, Tallahassee’s restaurants offer dine-in, take out, curbside-pickup and delivery options to fit everyone’s needs. Search dining options here.

2. SHOP LOCAL

We are all looking for ways to support local businesses and what better way than a little retail therapy? Explore the Saturday Downtown Marketplace where local products and produce are sold, or experience a new kind of shopping at Hearth & Soul where the owners feature many local makers in a welcoming environment that feels just like home. Visit a local bike shop, browse for vinyl and CD’s at Retrofit Records, spend time scanning the shelves at Midtown Reader and satisfy that sweet tooth at a Lucy & Leo’s Cupcakery found a few steps up the stairs. Gift cards from local retailers make great gifts too. Check out all the great shops here.

3. SEE THE SIGHTS

If you haven’t toured some of Tallahassee’s attractions lately, you owe it to yourself to do it. The many galleries, monuments, art in public places and our incredible 700 miles of wide-open trails are here and available to explore. Attractions such as The Tallahassee Museum and the Tallahassee Automobile Museum are following the CDC recommended precautions to ensure the health and safety of visitors and staff. Before you go, make sure to check hours of operation and capacity rules and have a Plan B in mind, just in case.

4. TREAT YOURSELF TO A STAYCATION

A change of scenery is the ideal way to refresh and improve your mood. Many of us are working from home and staring at the same four walls can get a little mundane. Book a staycation at one of Tallahassee’s hotels and enjoy the feeling of rediscovering your hometown. Whether you choose a romantic night out, a fun experience for the family or a lazy day by the pool… choose your own pace. Check out the unique hotel options that fit your needs.

Having trouble thinking of thing to do, spend some time combing through Things to Do or download our free mobile app and use the “Map my trip” to explore your options. The app is available for Apple and Android.

5. SPREAD THE WORD

Share your photos and experiences on social media and show the world how great Tallahassee is by tagging @VisitTally and using #iHeartTally.  Travel with friends and family and enjoy the ease of drivable districts for exploring, new hotel openings and those wide-open 700 miles of trails for hiking, biking, paddling or horseback riding.
