Located in a historic neighborhood at the city's center, Midtown Reader opened in November of 2016 - Tallahassee's only general-subject, independent bookstore selling new books in 27 years. We're working to build a loyal community of patrons through a regular variety of literary events, author presentations and related cultural programming. From literary fiction, mysteries, poetry, and science fiction to young adult books, biographies and cookbooks, Midtown Reader carries a selection of new and noteworthy books. We also showcase Florida authors and books about Florida's political, social, and natural history. And we provide regular children's programming through our Kidtown Readers Club!
