Support Every Step of the Way

Things run smoothly in Florida’s Capital City but we’re not talking state politics here.  The Visit Tallahassee team has a long-standing partnership with the award-winning Leon County Parks Department, Florida State University and Gulf Winds Track Club, one the oldest and largest organizations of its type in the Southeast. This partnership designed and developed Apalachee Regional Park as one of the few competitive cross-country facilities in the country and hosted over 100 competitive races together in our community. Our dedication extends to the heath and safety of all events held in Tallahassee. Following CDC guidelines for hygiene ensures that your event will meet the highest standards of health and safety for participants, spectators, staff and volunteers.

Expanding Trail System

The Tallahassee community has extensive greenways and trail system. In fact, the Tallahassee-Leon County community currently has over 1,630 miles of bicycle, pedestrian, and trail facilities with over 70 miles of new trails expected by the end of 2025.

These facilities have been recognized for awards and distinction by organizations and publications such as the National Association of Counties, Runner Friendly Communities, League of American Bicyclists, Bicycling Magazine, and People for Bikes.

Permanent Cross-Country Course

Already a world-class cross-country course, the $3M expansion and facility improvements will set ARP apart from any other course featuring permanent finish line structures, awards stage and facilities to accommodate media, coaches and support staff.

The Team Behind The Teams

Team success depends on talent, hard work, excellent coaching and the untiring efforts of a capable support staff. That also summarizes the services offered by Visit Tallahassee/Tallahassee Sports Council to athletic events and teams ranging from the youngest up-and-comers to Olympic champions. A long-standing partnership with innovators at Florida State University, Florida A&M University, Tallahassee Community College, the award-winning Leon County and City of Tallahassee Parks & Recreation Departments, Leon County Schools and area sports organizations provide facilities and capabilities unmatched by most communities. From youth events through high school and collegiate championships and senior sports, Visit Tallahassee/Tallahassee Sports Council builds winning performances through programs that include grant funding, assistance with logistics, housing, transportation, venue selection, rallying hundreds of experienced volunteers and marketing. It makes a difference and it makes this Florida’s Sports Capital.

In order to be successful, these events take a team of over 300 volunteers, event staff, FSU Athletics, Leon County Parks staff, Army ROTC, Gulf Winds Track Clubs and the local USATF association all working together to give spectators, coaches–and most importantly, the athletes a true championship event.
