Where to Catch the Rhythm of Live Music

The Local Scene and More

The Blue Tavern is a popular Midtown bar/coffeehouse/music venue within easy walking distance from Frenchtown, Levy Park and Lafayette Park.  A perfect spot to enjoy conversation, reading, art and a wide variety of styles of live music!

Another midtown spot, Fire Betty’s hosts live music and events every week including Karaoke Wednesday, Tuesday Comedy night and live bands most Thursday and Fridays.

Located in a historic railroad freight depot, House of Music is a premier spot for live music enthusiasts. This venue offers an eclectic mix of genres, including blues, folk, and Americana. House of Music Tallahassee is a full-service restaurant, karaoke bar, and multi-genre live music venue with great food, great music, and a safe, welcoming environment. With its intimate setting and top-notch sound system, The House provides an immersive experience that keeps patrons coming back for more.

Known for hosting some of the best new Indie Rock music, 926 Bar and Grill is a place to find all types of music, people and a place where everyone is accepted.

The Bark, located in the Arts District, is a smaller, more eclectic vegan restaurant/venue that features local bands, touring indie acts, and alternative performances.

Additional places to find local music include Barrel Proof LoungeVino Beano, Sound Bar, Club Downunder, or for a nice evening stroll outside, try gallery hopping and listening to live music at Railroad Square’s  First Friday.


Concert Venues

Located in the beautiful Cascades Park, The Adderley Amphitheater  is a hub for live music events in Tallahassee. From outdoor concerts to multi-day music festivals, this sprawling urban park’s amphitheater hosts a variety of performances throughout the year. With shows ranging from iconic musicians like Willie Nelson, to more progressive sounds of Flaming Lips and the many annual festivals to enjoy, the Adderley is the perfect spot to grab a picnic blanket, gather your friends, and soak up the sounds against the backdrop of Cascades Park’s scenic landscape.

A more intimate setting, the list of acts who’ve played at The Moon rivals any city. For a more intimate experience, The Moon offers a legendary lineup that rivals any city. This entertainment hotspot hosts concerts across genres, including country, rock, reggae, rap, jazz, R&B, and more. Newly renovated in 2021, The Moon delivers top-notch sound, making it the perfect place to catch a performance from ’70s rocker and 80s Punk Rock to other renowned artists and local favorites. Be sure to check the show listings—you never know who might take the stage.

Ruby Diamond Concert Hall, located on the FSU campus, is a premier venue that offers an impressive range of performances. From classical symphonies and indie rock concerts to the FSU School of Music’s PRISM showcases and operatic productions, this venue caters to a diverse array of musical tastes. The elegant setting, combined with its stellar acoustics, creates an immersive experience that makes Ruby Diamond a must-visit for any music lover.

The Donald L. Tucker Center at Florida State University stands as North Florida’s premier entertainment and convention hub. With a 12,500-seat arena, luxury suites, over 54,000 square feet of meeting and exhibition space, and the Spotlight Grille restaurant, it’s the place to catch rock, country, pop, and urban concerts. The venue also hosts FSU basketball, monster truck shows, circuses, rodeos, and various conventions. Located downtown on Pensacola Street, it’s just two blocks from the Capitol. the “Tuck” as it is known locally, is located near many restaurants, bars and hotels making it perfect for a trip to see great bands and enjoy the nightlife nearby.

Festivals

Word of South Festival, a festival of literature and music, is a unique blend of writers and musicians and an exploration of the relationship between the two disciplines for three days each April.  The festival showcases authors who write about music, musicians who also are authors, authors and musicians trading places, and everything in between.

Springtime Tallahassee Music Festival opens up the Springtime Tallahassee event on Friday evening. The free concert features a night of music you won’t want to miss. Arrive early to enjoy the opening acts at this Friday Night hot spot on the eve of the festival.

Tallahassee Jazz and Blues Fest at the Tallahassee Museum is one of the region’s best two-day jazz, swing, and rhythm and blues music festivals.

Concert Series

Tallahassee’s favorite FREE Downtown Concert Series takes place on select Saturdays at the Adderley Amphitheater at Cascades Park. These concerts are fun for the whole family! Grab a blanket and head to Cascades for music and fun.

Florida State University’s Opening Nights is an annual series of carefully curated performances that occur from the fall to the spring. Opening Nights presents a series of compelling and distinguished artists who provide extraordinary experiences that educate, inspire and connect diverse audiences on and off campus.
