NINE TALLAHASSEE RESTAURANTS RECEIVE HONORS IN FLORIDA TREND MAGAZINE’S PRESTIGIOUS GOLDEN SPOON AWARDS

Tallahassee Restaurants Ranked Among the Best in the State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – January 2, 2020 – Leon County’s Division of Tourism (Visit Tallahassee) is proud to announce Florida Trend Magazine’s recognition of nine local restaurants in the 2019 Golden Spoon awards. The awards are the oldest and most coveted dining distinction in Florida.

The amount of Tallahassee restaurants celebrated this year has nearly doubled from 2018. With the most awards earned in Northwest Florida, the capital city has been noticed as one of Florida’s most distinguished dining hubs in the state.

“Throughout the past few years, Tallahassee has seen tremendous growth as a destination and our dining establishments are no exception,” said Kerri Post, executive director for Visit Tallahassee. “Nine restaurants being honored with Golden Spoon awards this year is a testament to Tallahassee’s continued recognition as a top travel destination in the South.”

Two Tallahassee restaurants, Cypress Restaurant and Flood Glorious Food were welcomed into the ‘Hall of Fame’ this year after earning several Golden Spoon awards over the years. Tallahassee’s Lucilla, Masa, Sage and Table 23 were honored with Golden Spoon awards based on the selection of high-quality, carefully-sourced ingredients, stellar service and overall ambiance. Backwoods Crossing, Il Lusso and Savour have been named ‘Best New Restaurant’ after being open for less than two years and embracing new ideas and trends, whether casual, inexpensive or experimental.

Named as one of Southern Living’s top 10 Cities of the South, Tallahassee’s unique charm and style is derived from the undeniably pretty and often unexpected features found in Florida’s capital city. Tallahassee is home to more than 700 miles of diverse trails — aptly lending the nickname “Trailahassee” – with abundant biking, hiking and running trails.
