Sankofa 2024: Legends of Funk, Jazz & Soul

The Tallahassee St.Maarten Foundation will be celebrating 25 years of its Sister City relationship with Tallahassee.  This is also Tallahassee’s Bicentennial Year and we thought it fitting to kick off our 25-year celebration by honoring the local and international legends of Funk, Jazz and Soul during our 5th and final Sankofa concert on Saturday April 27 with shows at 6pm and 8pm.   We are featuring and celebrating the music of local legends and educators that have contributed to music and education here in Tallahassee and around the world.   These artists represent the highest standard and love for the art of music, dedicating their lives to enriching the lives of others, through arts, education and culture.   The Sankofa Concert is an educational but entertaining event that showcases and educates the community about the various forms of musical and artistic expressions performed by musicians and singers of the African Diaspora.   Appearing on stage at the 5th Sankofa Concert will be Grammy Award winners Kendra Foster and Cody Chestnutt; Caribbean Gospel Music Award winners Ilismo & Lili Forbes; and highly acclaimed singer, songwriter, and producer Anthony Williams, and Drummer on the Move Marlon Williams.  Also appearing will be Larry Malloy, Jordan Just, Nia Sissle and the Soul Collective Live.   Featured musicians are Joel Johnson, Sam Johnson, Joshua Rivers, Jordan Green, Steve Fryson, Michelle Waller, and many more.
