Phipps Hiking Trail

4600 N Meridian Rd.
Tallahassee FL 32312
(850) 891-3866

The Coon Bottom Loop Trail and the Swamp Forest Loop are stacked, looping trails, offering 1.8 and 1.5 miles of trail fun. The Coon Bottom Loop is the smaller of the two trails, while the Swamp Forest Loop surrounds the perimeter of a forested wetland and stream and passes through a Beech-Magnolia forest. The trails’ terrain ranges from hilly to sandy to swamp-like (with bog bridges to help you along), with each twist and turn revealing yet another natural wonder. While the south side of the loop is easy, the north side is quite strenuous. Featured on the Great Florida Birding Trail, the Phipps Hiking trails are noted for sighting Eastern bluebirds, wild turkey, bald eagles and wood storks.
