Amy Owen Center and Janet Price Cawley met as children when they rode at a competitive Hunter/Jumper barn in Orlando, Florida.  During their junior careers they successfully competed in the ponies, hunters, equitation and the jumpers.  Junior highlights were Pony Finals, Medal and Maclay Finals, and Junior Jumper Zone Teams.

Janet and Amy both attended Florida State University and continued their equestrian education and competition at Full Cry Farm under the tutelage of Barry Lane, Grand Prix rider.  It was there that they were encouraged to make a career in the equestrian sport.

Amy graduated from FSU in 1993 and began working as a freelance trainer and instructor.  Janet joined Amy and together they found a barn for rent and formed Cavallo Farms in October of 1993.  By 1995 they had refurbished that barn, built a clientele and Janet graduated from FSU.

At that point, they leased The Farm on Meridian Road for six years where they brought new vitality to the facility and continued to grow their clientele.  Ownership was the next goal to accomplish and in the summer of 2001 they set out to find their own land.

Cavallo Farms Equestrian Center is now permanently located in Lloyd, Florida on 47 beautiful acres.  The clientele grows yearly and so do the accomplishments of the horses and students trained by Cavallo Farms.  As children, Janet and Amy dreamed of opening their own equestrian center; as adults their hard work and talent has realized that dream.

Celebrate Earth Day by visiting the enchanting Live Oak at Lichgate! 🌳 Its vast canopy has watched over Tallahassee for centuries, providing shade and solace to those who visit.

Built by FSU English professor Laura Jepsen and named for the gates of medieval England, Lichgate Cottage is reminiscent of the fairytale cottages of childhood stories. The grounds include butterfly, perennial, and daffodil gardens, a labyrinth, and a magnificent Live Oak tree dating back to the days of Shakespeare.
