Join us for seasonal snacks, drinks, and a solstice fire during a special Multicultural Holiday Celebration, Tuesday, Dec. 20, from 5:30-7pm at LeMoyne Arts!

We will have supplies for releasing the old and seeding the new in the solstice fire. In ancient cultures, the Winter Solstice was a time of celebration and sacrifice, of rituals and festivities designed to awaken the red-gold bear of the sun from his long slumber. It was the last big feast before the deep cold set in, when livestock were killed so they wouldn’t have to be fed through the winter and the wine and ale brewed after the harvest were ready for quaffing.   Some cultures consider this to be a time of connection with ancestors and traditions, when the veil between worlds is thinnest, and a time of letting go – shedding old karmic and emotional baggage, time-worn ways of being, experiences from the past year that you don’t want to carry into the coming light.
It’s the point in the year when time seems to both slow down and speed up, a solstice paradox. Those who honor the old ways celebrate the Solstice with fire, evergreens, feasting and toasting, jollity and music, contemplation, and merriment. Hosted by Norine Cardea & Friends.

Free for LeMoyne Arts Members, $10 for Non-Members (includes a free $5 re-entry ticket for the rest of the exhibit).
