Overwriting, Joshua Shane Flores

Joshua describes his work:

I mourn and celebrate memories of loved ones and the fleeting life we take for granted as time constantly progresses. For years, I have been fanscinated by the function and disconcerted by fragility of memory and the degradation and corrution that occurs.  I make stencil monoprints that reflect the computing and cognative memory term of overwriting. My imagery consists of hand-cut stencils of abstract filigree representations of memory and networks of lines as synaptic threads.  These stencils undergo the repeated printing process of layering and transferring ink, resulting in unique printed compositions on sheets of paper and the stencils themeselves.  This work and monoprinting technique reveal the melding, sharing, and loss of date that occurs in our memories.
