Tallahassee Sports Council - Tallahassee, Florida.
Sharing foresight and a common interest in
athletics, the hospitality industry and business community originated the concept of the Tallahassee Sports Council, formerly the Tallahassee Sports Authority, in 1989. As a division of the Tallahassee Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Sports Council attracts sporting events with economic impact and exposure to the Tallahassee and Leon County region.
The Tallahassee Sports Council's main goal is to maximize the economic benefits of sports for the betterment of the local community. This is accomplished through the pursuit and proficient hosting of international, national, regional, and state events that span a wide spectrum of sports and performance levels.
The Sports Council also supports the development of local athletics through various service programs and through the support of local leagues and organizations. From support of youth sports to adult competition, the Sports Council works to emphasize the vital role of sports play in our everyday life. Since its inception, the Sports Council has worked diligently to earn Tallahassee the well-deserved reputation of an ideal site for competition.
Services provided by the Sports Council range from organizing the event to awarding grant money, to assisting with hospitality, housing, funding, transportation, venues and public relations. This degree of involvement is credited, in large part, to the dedication and expertise of Tallahassee Sports Council committee members, hundreds of volunteers and cooperation from local venue operators.
