The Tallahassee Senior Center (TSC) is hosting a benefit concert Thursday, July 3. The concert features patriotic and American music by the Capital City Band of Tallahassee Community College (TCC) and the TCC Jazz Band, under the direction of band member Omar Allen. The concert costs $5 and begins at 7:30 p.m. in the TSC auditorium. Tickets will be on sale at the door.
In addition to the concert, attendees will have the opportunity to view a new TSC art exhibit, "Four Decades of Paintings" by Richard Drake.
The concert will benefit the Brehon Institute for Family Services Inc., Catholic Charities and the TSC.
"Together, our three organizations serve people throughout life – from birth through the senior years," said Debra Herman, regional director of Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida. "We all care so much about our clients, and this collaboration helps make our community stronger."
Members of both ensembles playing are made up of community adults and college students. Students may play in the groups for credit, and community members may participate free of charge. The ensembles perform around the community throughout the year. For more information on the ensembles, please contact Gary Coates at 201-6070.
