Tallahassee Fitness Festival Kicks Off With Winners of the
FIT Awards

Tallahassee (October 12, 2007) -- In the past month, nearly 1,000 Tallahassee and area residents placed their votes online for the FIT (Fitness, Inspiration and Training) Awards at www.TallyFitnessFestival.com for the opportunity to recognize the best local fitness and health care professionals. Categories such as who is the best personal exercise trainer in Tallahassee? to what restaurant offers the healthiest menu options? were voted on. The FIT Award will be provided to those individuals and businesses who exemplify Fitness, Inspiration and Training within their respective profession.

The Fitness Festival officially kicks off on 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Leon County Visitors Center at 106 E. Jefferson St. in downtown Tallahassee. The festival is supported in part by the Tallahassee Sports Council (TSC), a division of the Tallahassee Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, which sees the event as an opportunity to promote health and fitness in Tallahassee.

"The TSC is pleased to help with this grass-roots campaign that will benefit our community and the quality of life here in Tallahassee." said Brian Hickey, Executive Director of the Tallahassee Sports Council. "We are please to have those in the health and fitness industry, like the Sports Council and Humana, support the event as sponsors and exhibitors", states Crystal Green, Co-Producer of the festival. The FIT Awards is one of many activities that the festival will bring to the community.

Produced by local event planning companies, Eventions and Your Social Butterfly, the festival is slated to take place on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the Leon County Civic Center. Tallahassee Fitness Festival is a one-day opportunity to experience the latest exercise classes, home gym equipment and health and nutrition products. Packed with "power" presentations by some of the industry’s most respected experts, the event will feature more than 150 local and national vendors, who will conduct FREE health screenings, provide FREE health and fitness information and FREE product samples.
