CASTING CALL
06/18/2008
SUPERNANNY returns to ABC television for a brand new fifth season! Spring casting for the show was launched in Tallahassee! That’s right, the casting team of ABC’s popular parenting series SUPERNANNY searched for Tallahassee families to be on the brand new fifth season of the hit show. Producers from Ricochet Television hosted open casting call on Saturday, June 21st from 12:00PM to 4:00PM at The Greatest Sale on Earth at the North Florida Fairgrounds (441 Paul Russell Rd. Tallahassee, FL 32301). And the Tallahassee CVB was on hand to welcome them and promote the casting call throughout the city. Producers searched for families from every type of background, with unique interests and parents who have ordinary and extraordinary circumstances; teen moms; parents with mean girls or bullying boys, culturally diverse parents, and blended families where both sides are seeking help. This is an opportunity of a lifetime and we hope that a Tallahassee family makes the cut to both receive a visit from America’s number one nanny, Jo Frost, and facilitate the production of an inspiring episode. We’ll keep you posted on the status.
We are well on our way to developing Tallahassee’s first Film Permit! This month, Film Liaison Rebecca Dirden Mattingly met with both Michelle Bono, Assistant to the City Manager and Rebeka Gipson-King, Leon County Public Information Specialist to get the process started. As you know, an essential part of attracting new film and video production to the area including motion pictures, television movies, commercials, music videos, corporate industrials and still photography is ensuring that our area is "film friendly. " A Film Permit is generally required throughout a jurisdiction for commercial film, video or still photo shoots that are conducted on public property; that is, on roads and streets, sidewalks, or in parks, beaches or public buildings. By acting as the central liaison between the city and county government, the production company and the local community, the Tallahassee CVB intends to be the one-stop resource on behalf of the city and county for photography and filmmaking activities on public property.
We anticipate that some municipalities and counties in the region – Wakulla, Jefferson, Gadsden, Liberty, Taylor, Gulf and Franklin– may require a filming permit for shoots that are conducted on property within their jurisdictions. The Tallahassee CVB is committed to working with our partners in the region to ensure a streamlined process and excellent customer service.
